The sponge tool is an amazing but not a well known tool that is incredibly useful. It allows you to chose a brush to desaturate or saturate a certain area on a picture. for those of you who do not known desaturate is to take color away and to saturate is to add more color or brighten a picture.

Steps

    Open photoshop and the photo that you would like to edit.

    Go to the burn or dodge tool on the toolbar.

    Right click and select the sponge tool.

    Choose your brush in on the toolbar were you usually change brushes.

    Select saturate or desaturate and adjust the exposure.

    Draw over any of the areas that you want to be adjusted.

    You're done! Now go and add more color or take away color to your hearts desire!

Tips

  • Don't go too crazy with the exposure too little and you will never get a change and too much and you will cause too much change!
  • Make sure to not just click the spot you want to desaturate or saturate, you may need to click more until you notice more change.
